I am an advocate of the notion that photography isn't fixed within one genre, space or mode of reception, and I strive to emphasise this in my own practice. I draw inspiration from the roots of photography, which I combine with digital methods to create work that is difficult to categorise - at once modern and mindful of photography's earliest stages.

My fascination with Victorian photography and its power of illusion has become the dominant theme of my practice, influencing my work both contextually and stylistically. I combine digital manipulation with traditional processes to restore, paradoxically, the wonder and transcendental power of the photographic image. By examining notions of the supernatural and subverting the distinction between real and fake, I am aiming to recreate the aura of mystery that surrounded early photography.
